Aloha!
I had no sooner pressed send on the letter for this week when a set of sister missionaries came to the door. They had a problem. They have to drive to “town” tomorrow morning (town is the name everyone uses around here for Honolulu) to the mission office. The low tire pressure light was lit on the dashboard. I have the air compressor in our garage, so we checked all the tires. All of them were fine so we had a mis-functioning sensor in the car which they’ll have to take in to get checked on their next P-Day.
As that was finishing, another set of sister missionaries came. They also had a problem. She had prepared a talk, wanted to print it, but it wouldn’t print. All of the young missionaries (not the seniors) are going to the mission office tomorrow for a meeting with a general authority (a member of the 70). All of them are to prepare a talk on a specific subject (this time it was on the Sacrament and the Atonement), write the talk out (or print it out) and turn it in at the beginning of the conference. During the conference a few missionaries will be called on to give their talk, but everyone has to turn in a talk. It was now 9:10pm and they’re supposed to be in their apartment for the night by 9:30pm.
She thought she had the talk on her thumb drive. It wasn’t to be found. So, because I can’t go alone with the sister missionaries, Sister Smith and I along with the two missionaries drove to the Center, disarmed the security, and checked the computer where she had written her talk. It was there … not on her thumb drive (thankfully!!). However, it wouldn’t print from that computer. It did however print from a different computer. Sometime tomorrow I’ll need to re-install the print driver on that malfunctioning computer. We got them to their apartment at 9:35pm.
So, it’s now 10pm and the day is (probably … hopefully) coming to an end. Such are the things that keep us busy here in this little corner of paradise!
