My brother Perry and his wife came over to Soda Springs yesterday for the weekend. Dad has been feeling very poorly for the past week or so. He’d been in to see several doctors, each giving him a bit different diagnosis. He’s not been able to keep anything down. He caught a very bad cold that was getting worse. Late yesterday afternoon Perry talked mother into taking him to the emergency room. It was a very good thing. According to the doctor, he nearly died yesterday evening as there was so much that was bad going on. They put him on oxygen, started an IV to rehydrate him, loaded him up with antibiotics, found his blood sugar way out of control and worked that down, and worked on getting his blood levels back to normal. Nina and I went over today after church and spent the afternoon and evening. He’s doing much better and the doctor sounds encouraged. He’ll be in the hospital for a few more days while they work to get most things back to normal. He either has viral pneumonia or viral bronchitis (or maybe both?). Perry and I gave him a blessing before we left as well. Hang in there, Dad! It’s not your time, yet!
