This is the machine used to lift people out of bed, place them on the commode, lift them back up, and return them to the bed (or wheelchair). It’s quite the device, but still takes two people to operate.
The machine is wheeled under the patient’s bed. The blue stuff on the far side is a strap affair that goes around the patient, under his arms, and then hooks onto the metal arms sticking out. The metal arms then are hoisted up and the patient is literally hoisted off the bed into a standing position. The machine is then maneuvered into the bathroom and the patient lowered onto the commode. The reverse process gets the patient back to the bed. Probably better than a bedpan, though.
