This library is just south of Youngstown, Ohio and is in my mind a premier example of what a public library should be. (1) It’s in a very lovely building. (2) The building is spacious and well lighted inside. (3) It has free wifi with a good signal throughout the building. (4) There are many, many comfortable places to sit. (5) There is a small coffee / soft drinks kiosk with reasonable prices. (6) They have a used bookstore where books no longer in demand in the main library are on sale (we came away with a couple of treasures). (7) The library has a number of meeting rooms, several of which were busy when we were there in the middle of a Monday afternoon, including one where a dive shop was displaying today scuba diving equipment and discussing what was needed to become certified. (8) The library was VERY busy with lots of people of all ages in the library. Everyone seemed to be encouraged to be there and to take their time. (9) The limits on how many books, videos, and audio CD’s are very generous. (10) The checkout process was fast, friendly, and efficient. The list could go on, but ten is a good indication.
