His transportation around the mall is on a Segway. He took his job very seriously, having stopped to talk to the fellow standing next to him about “loitering” in the mall. The fellow had explained that his wife and daughter were shopping and he was waiting. The Mall Cop wanted to know what store they were in, and I wandered away after having taken the picture.
A few minutes later, as I was focusing in on taking a picture of my daughter Jaelene and her son in the Lego store, he pulled up on his Segway to tell me that picture taking was not allowed in the mall and that I was to stop. I told him I needed to see it in writing. He eventually found something that said I could only take pictures with permission of the subjects or the store owner. He rode away on his machine somewhat chagrined, and very unhappy that I had challenged him. He was very concerned member of “Homeland Security” ….
