The polls were open from 8 am to 8 pm today for the primary election. There weren’t many contested races and in several cases, the winner of the primary were effectively elected to the position as they wouldn’t have an opponent in November. Turnout for the May primaries on non-presidential-election years is usually quite small (around 20%), meaning a small minority of the population decides who will represent them at all levels of government. I choose to vote.
