The fellow in the blue jacket and shorts had just arrived at the aid station. What may be thought as sunburn on his legs is the battering he took from the wind and hail. It’s not readily visible, but it’s pouring cold rain in this picture. Almost all of the male runners ran bare-legged. All of the female runners were much better attired. The woman standing to the runner’s left was part of a three-person relay team and she was waiting for the first runner to get into the aid station so she could depart. Shortly after this picture was taken, she did start her part of the course and shortly after that the race was called off because of the very poor weather conditions up in the hills.
