WW1 Trenches

Along the river Ieser in Belgium is a small park where some of the trenches from World War One are preserved. I really enjoyed visiting the park but I have a hard time thinking that people lived and fought from these trenches for almost four years.

Notice the poppies growing along the trenches. It was these flowers that inspired the poem In Flanders Fields.
