Herding Cattle in the Snow

As I was driving back to Pocatello today from Arbon Valley (where I had a speaking assignment at the Arbon Branch), the snow had started to fall once again with huge, very wet flakes. I first saw four cows going down the middle of the road and thought, “Someone’s got a problem … their livestock is loose on the highway.” Then coming across the road I saw a fellow on horseback with his dog. They were herding the cows down the road.

I stopped and let them get closer so I could take another picture. The wind was blowing, it was cold, and it was snowing. I’m sure the cowboy wanted to be somewhere else, but these cows needed to get to pasture where they could be fed.

I love my iPhone camera.
