The statue stands just in front of the fort. The emperor Shah Jahan (who built the Taj Mahal and did extensive building within the Agra Fort) was deposed by his son Aurangzeb and kept imprisoned in a portion of the white palace. Aurangzeb was pretty much a despot. According to our tour guide, the fort and the kingdom was liberated by this man from Mumbai. However, the historical record doesn’t back that up.
